Symbolized by a bell-shaped 
icon in the upper right-hand corner of the portal, this icon alerts you that you have notifications. Notifications are usually dated and one sentence in length. You can click on the notification and be taken to more in-depth information about it.
Note: Once you click on a notification, it disappears as an alert and the number of alerts decreases as well.
